When we founded Select Shades Sunglass Outlet, we weren’t just launching another sunglasses store — we were creating an alternative to the pushy sales floors and cookie-cutter retail layouts of the big chains.
We wanted a local feel at every location, with stylish eyewear curated for the community it serves, a comfortable shopping experience, and trained team members ready to help without hovering.
Jonathan, with 12 years in hospitality at Marriott, and Jason, a seasoned business leader, joined forces in 2015 to open our first Select Shades store.
Early locations in Atlanta’s Inman Park, The Battery Atlanta, Leeds, AL, and Gainesville, FL gave us valuable lessons about markets, customers, and retail dynamics. While those stores have since closed, the wisdom gained has fueled every decision we’ve made since.
